Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering team with information and analysis tools
• Be a technical resource for the initiation and implementation of cost improvement plans on new and existing programs
• Attend design meetings as part of the AQP process and provide insight and expertise in regard to the tool design, capability and part handling
• Continuously improve existing processes using design of experiments and other methods to increase efficiencies
• Implement systems and procedures that assure compliance with Quality Standards
• Process owner and management resource for sampling and project release phase documentation
• Troubleshooting resource for Mold Technicians and resource to evaluate out of range processes.
• Keep up to date on injection molding equipment and process technology, including but not limited to materials, presses, and process control (ex. RJG)
• Construct and analyze DOE’s for the purpose of determining process capabilities and predicting failure mode rates.
• Effective communicator in team environments with cross functional skill sets.
• Process owner and management resource for sampling and project release phase documentation
• Responsible to oversee technical development of mold technicians to help facilitate timely completion of their Mold Tech Development program responsibilities.

Qualifications - Education & Experience

• Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline; or equivalent mix of education and experience
• Professional engineering experience
• Experience with mold technicians preferred

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of robotics, automation, equipment and processes
• Comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of SPC, DOE, geometric tolerancing and blueprint reading
• Strong communication (verbal and written), teamwork and organizational skills
• Ability to identify problems and develop and implement actions to resolve them
• Strong technical skills in injection molding, tooling, materials, product design, and affiliated processes: to include secondary operations and automation
• Ability to use CAD to determine if tooling, equipment and part designs meet requirements
• Working knowledge of injection molding and materials
• Related coursework or experience to be able to make recommendations for secondary operations, procedures, fixtures, and supplies
• Ability to work with all levels within the organization, as well as with customers and vendors
• Computer aptitude and experience
• Highly motivated with demonstrated initiative
• Demonstrate communication skills
• Demonstrate knowledge of engineering project systems
• Demonstrable track record of project accomplishment desired
• Demonstrable track record of planning activities with contingency actions desired
